Problem:
When cutter heads experience a large amount of friction or drag, the result can be a decrease in efficiency and increased wear. In 2003 a customer came to us to see if there was anything we could do to help them reduce the drag on their cutting cylinders.
Solution:
At Ace Rubber Products, we have over 25 years of experience in the custom-molded rubber product business. Our company already manufactured high quality rubber strips for cutting cylinders, which provided extra insight to the customer’s needs. Our engineers worked with our client to develop a strip modified with six notches.
Results:
These modified strips reduced the drag on the cylinders, allowing them to run faster. The quality of the work was ensured by dimensional, tensile, and functionality testing performed throughout the process. The final product reduced the wear of the cutting knives, increasing their longevity and the efficiency of the machinery as a whole.
